Since I was a teenager I´ve always been a big fan of polar and mountaineering expeditions.
Stories like Sir Robert Falcon Scott´s South pole tragic race against Roald Amundsen. The adventures of Mr. Ernest Shackleton trapped in the ice with all of his crew for more than two years. The heroic conquest of Annapurna by the french team leaded by Maurice Herzog. And finally the incredible ascent of Mt Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were some of the books that led me to feel a big devotion for isolated places and wild mountains.
As I started to travel and write my own experiences, I realized there were a common thing among all this different stories and it was nothing but their “travel notebooks”.
All of this adventures had always been captured through this simple yet effective travel companion. Even Scott´s last words, sad and honest were written on a piece like this.
This is the reason why I have made this first set of 3 travel notebooks, using digital techniques to remember those ancient times of adventure and glory.
Each notebook contains 32 pages of 90 gsm light yellow paper, a 300 gsm golden eco paper cover and a different mountain quote on its first page:
- Mt Fitz Roy notebook includes a quote from Lionel Terray, first climber to reach its summit.
- Cerro Torre notebook includes a quote from Al Alvarez, an English poet, novelist, essayist and climber.
- And finally, El Chalten notebook, wich cover is a reproduction of 1953 original map from the book “Al asalto del Fitz Roy”, includes a quote from Wilfrid Noyse, an English mountaineer and author, member of the 1953 British Expedition that made the first ascent of Mt Everest.
Notebook size is 5,5 x 3,5 inches, fits perfectly on any pocket, and it will certainly become your preferred travel partner.
